Newspeech Edit

"Ey" (also equivalent: heya) is an acceptable greeting in newspeech, along with hey. "Ey" is especially encouraged when you are in a pleasant mood and self-diagnose that you are unlikely to be triggered by any stray artifact of English.

Reason Edit

"Ey" and "heya" derive from heia and eia - an interjection denoting joy in Latin.[1]
